How to Search Baltimore County Court Records
Maryland Judiciary Case Search is the main public search point for Baltimore County court records. It covers public summary information from Maryland District Court and Circuit Court cases, including Baltimore County civil, criminal, traffic, and many family case summaries. It also includes Maryland appellate records. Case Search is statewide, so users should narrow results to Baltimore County, the Circuit Court, or the District Court location when the form offers those filters.
Case Search is a summary tool, not a full document library. The official FAQ says the system can show party names, case numbers, dates of birth in some criminal or traffic matters, trial dates, charges, and dispositions. Full pleadings, orders, certified copies, and older records often require a courthouse kiosk or a request to the Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Types of Baltimore County Court Records
Baltimore County court records come from more than one court and record office. The Circuit Court is the general-jurisdiction trial court for major civil cases, serious criminal cases, family law, juvenile matters, jury trials, and most appeals from lower courts or agencies. Estate files use the Register of Wills Estate Search, while federal cases use PACER or the District of Maryland records process. A broad Baltimore County court records search is strongest when the searcher routes each record to its actual custodian.
Public Access for Baltimore County Court Records
Maryland court records are presumed open unless a constitution, statute, Maryland Rule, court order, or case law restricts them. The Maryland Rules Title 16, Chapter 900 govern access to judicial records in paper and electronic form. The Maryland public access guidance also explains that some records can be inspected at a court location even when remote access is limited.
The Maryland Public Information Act applies to many executive-branch and local-government records, but court case access is primarily controlled by court rules. That distinction matters in Baltimore County. A police incident report goes to Baltimore County Police, a state driver record goes to MDOT MVA, an estate file goes to the Register of Wills, and a Circuit Court case document goes to the Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Restricted Baltimore County Court Records
Restricted Baltimore County court records may include a single field, a document, or an entire case. Maryland access guidance identifies juvenile delinquency, CINA, CINS, truancy, adoption, termination of parental rights, expunged criminal records, sealed cases, family financial material, medical information, personal identifiers, certain protective-order records, and some warrant records as restricted categories. Public online access should not be expected for those records.
Criminal outcomes also have special online suppression rules. Case Search may suppress certain nolle prosequi, dismissal, acquittal, not guilty, stet, cannabis-related, or pardoned cannabis possession outcomes from remote public display. Some records may still be public at the courthouse, while others are sealed, expunged, or restricted by law. For a Baltimore County criminal case, confirm the case number and disposition first, then contact the clerk or the court that resolved the case.
Maryland separates expungement from shielding. Expungement removes eligible records from public access. Shielding limits public access to certain eligible conviction records without erasing every government or law-enforcement use.
